Came here for lunch today and had a good time! We came here later the in the afternoon so had no problem finding a table. It was nice to be able to sit outside while still being somewhat enclosed in case of rain or wind. The staff were all very friendly and laid back. Our server was an older gentleman and was very friendly and accommodating. We split the grilled chicken sandwich and cheeseburger and both were wonderful! The chicken was really moist and had great flavor! We ordered the burger medium, and it was cooked perfectly! we had fries and potato salad for our sides! The fries were excellent and nice and crispy! I'm a harsh critic of potato salad since I grew up having some of the best potato salad ever...and this was quite good! A laid back environment with a great view of the beach and tasty food! Would recommend!

Location is nice. Prices are reasonable. The omelette was tasty. The service was strange and abrupt. First we ask if they had cappuccino. The mumbled response left us still questioning. Sat down and asked the price of cappuccino. Again a mumbled response. Asked a few more questions whilst dining, and every time the waitress answered it was one word whilst walking away from the table. Was not really busy so not sure why.

The "Deck" has been around for a long time and shows its age, as in really dated with a somewhat messy appearance behind the bar. The only thing it has going for it is its elevated view overlooking A1A, the beach and the ocean. As for food, it's basically crap as are their fancy touristy and other mixed drinks. Unless you are having breakfast, which is a meal difficult to screw up, your best bet is to stick with beer for your drink and their overpriced average tasting burgers as your entrée. The service can also be iffy at best. Sometimes good, sometimes horrible, usually depending upon how crowded the place may be and it does get crowded on nice days, particularly Sunday mornings, generally with tourists and hotel guests, but very few locals. If it weren't for its gorgeous view, breezy casual open air patio atmosphere and being a part of a hotel, the subpar food would kill the business off within a heartbeat.

2 stars because our server Frank had a great personality. Food was terrible. I had pancakes and an egg over easy. My husband had deck combo 3. Pancakes tasted like they were made last week, stored in the refrigerator and reheated in a microwave. My egg was so undercooked that the egg white was sliming all over my pancakes and I couldn't finish either one. My husband said the "hoe fries" we're good but corned beef hash, not so much. We left there and went to get a real breakfast. Don't waste your meal on this. It's not worth the calorie intake.

Awesome view of the ocean. And every time we go there the staff is amazing beyond just serving you food and drinks. They want you to enjoy your visit to FTL.....must experience!

Good food, fair service (could be more hospitable and friendly and attentive), fair decor, great location, fantastic view. Recommend omelettes.

5 stars for the view. 2 stars for the food. I just don't understand places like this... You have prime real estate with an incredible 2nd story view overlooking Ft Lauderdale Beach. You're mediocre because you can get away with it. Why not put more effort into your food and make this place legendary? Breakfast is hard to mess up. And the Deck didn't mess it up. They just didn't do anything beyond average. If you don't mind mediocre food and just want a fantastic view, this is your place.

Found by chance wanting a place on the water but off the strip. A very pleasant find. No crowd, great view. AND easy free parking nearby. If you seeking a great little restaurant go. I'm from NY. I know food. Not fancy, limited menu. Loved the Bruschetta. Mahi was excellent. Fuck the dickheads expecting more. Seats were fine. What she didn't say was she was 250 Lbs, lol.

It is what is it. If you're expecting fine dining or even halfway decent food then go elsewhere. If you want a place right on the beach, with decent prices and good for booze than give it a shot. The Deck is a place for greasy bar food and drinks, not to have some kind of fine cuisine. I had the burger and fries and they were both grease filled. Food isn't the best but isn't horrible either, it can do in a pinch but it won't put a huge smile on your face. Service was decent, the waiter was a nice enough, wasn't overly fast or efficient but he was friendly which goes a long way. All in all if you're looking for cheap booze and bar food, give it a shot but don't expect to be blown away.

The servers are either missing or have a pretty darn bad attitude - under staffed - 20 minutes before being acknowledged - pretty much goes with the Sea Club Resort - understaffed & staff overworked!

Beautiful view and friendly staff. The food was a little over priced but still tasted good. You're mainly paying for a beachfront view. Our server was very nice and offered us tips on what to do while in town and ways to save money on excursions.

I would give it 3 stars just because of the location. Nice view and just 1 min walking distance from our hotel. The food is not the best. We just ordered a sampler (3 mozarella sticks, 3 chicken fingers, 3 coconut shrimp and 3 onion rings) Their blood marry is not tasty(((

The Deck restaurant was very crowded upon our arrival for breakfast, so we proceeded to sit at the bar. Due to the uncomfortable seating and my husband's knees, we proceeded to move ourselves to a table that became available. We already had ordered the following: alligator omelet, sunrise special and croissant delight. Evidently, Frank our server was very aggravated due to us moving from one station to another. He stated that he needed the table. We explained to him that we HAD TO move due to my husband being in severe pain from the bar chairs, but he was not very pleased with our move. We've received absolutely NO SERVICE from him. We had to get up twice to get our own refills on coffee and soda. . . We were unsure if we would actually receive our food, but it did finally arrive. My husband really enjoyed his alligator omelet....very distinct and pleasant taste. My eggs were also fine and my daughter enjoyed her croissant delight but due to the NONE EXISTING service never received the syrup. My husband's toast came AFTER he ate his omelet. We even had to get up to get our own silverware. Let me reiterate that the taste of the food should've probably receive 4 stars, but the NON EXISTING service declined my rating. Frank's colleagues served us or food and cleaned the table. When we tried to talk to the manager in charge, he hardly have us the time of day and walked away in the middle of our conversation. The view of the restaurant is beautiful, but it is located away from the centralized location of the action.

#1 upside to this joint was the music. Fantastic 90's mix made the experience! Other than that the staff was friendly enough, the prices were as average at best but the restrooms were filthy and the entire place looks like its one strong wind gust from falling over. If you find yourself this far north on the strip (for parking like we did) do yourself a favor and keep walking.

    (2)
  • Jim B.

I've been here before and wasn't expecting much. The view is great but they lack in beer selection. Too dark at night to read the menu. The music was terrible and way too loud for a dinner crowd. I had a steak and some home fries. Average at best. This is not a place you would actually plan to go to (at least not twice) but I was staying next door at the Atlantic and didn't feel like driving or walking too far so I ended up here. People were nice and attentive but I should have just kept walking.

The place rocks. Two Greek salads one with chicken the other with shrimp. The Greek dressing wasn't thick n creamy. It was a very balsamic type dressing which is way better! The service at the bar was perfect. Perfectly paced. Not entirely clear how this place landed only 2.5 stars out of 5 with 55 reviews. Either it's all the snooty people who have unreasonable expectations or the drunken hill jacks who stroll I and also have unreasonable expectations. Would totally go back. From what we could see the burgers rocked. No question for lunch it was pricey but you are on the water in Ft Lauderdale. Expect nothing less.

This place is rough around the edges. Honestly "the resort" that it's at looks like something you'd see on Hotel Impossible on the Travel Channel. Or at least it does from the outside. Our entire group got Croissant Egg Sandwiches. They were okay. Tasted like something I could make at home. Ended up here while staying at The W for a friend's birthday. Definitely wouldn't go out of my way to go back, but did the job of getting some greasy food in us after a long night downtown. Be aware they don't serve lunch before 12:15 so you're strong armed into have breakfast. P.S.: Hotel Impossible, please help this place.

I've rode past here on several occasions and finally made it a plan to stop. Parking was a bit tough to find on a Saturday afternoon but the 2 block walk only helped after eating. I tried the gator burger which was pretty good but I'd order it with a bun that has less bread next time. For a drink I had the hurricane size Deck Blaster. They don't skimp on the alcohol so it had plenty of bite. They bring you a cup of water later as I'm assuming they try to mellow down any buzz you might have. Our waitress was Vicky who offered great service. Sit by the rail if you like a clear view of the beach/ocean and any classic cars that might roll through.

  • Courtney L.

The food was decent.. but I mean, can you really mess up breakfast food? The eggs benedict were good and the pancakes were solid. The service was very friendly, but the best part was the view. A great spot to overlook the ocean and just sit outside and feel the breeze. I don't think I'd be back, but it was a solid spot for our first morning in Ft Lauderdale.

My husband and I are staying at the hotel so we actually ate here twice. We should have known better due to our first experience. The food is not good, it tastes as if it's been sitting on a buffet for a few hours, then slopped on a plate. The eggs on my eggs florentine were so overlooked I couldn't eat them. I had to wait about ten minutes after my food arrived for silverware. The servers are frazzled looking and dripping with sweat. Overall just a bad waste of money. There are a lot of nice places close by. Skip this place.

I came in with family, it was 11:35 am... as soon as we walked through the door we asked a server where we should sit and he Rudely said...breakfast is over if you want breakfast you better sit down and tell me your order right now...Um like okay jerk... we have never been here and do not even know the menu...so we sat down and decided...well since this guy seems aggravated at us already we will just order lunch. So then he came and asked us what we wanted...we said oh well we're going to have lunch can we see a menu...and he said...again so rude...ugh well lunch starts at noon so you are going to have to wait. He said there was going to be a 20 min turnover from breakfast to lunch...First of all...I work in the food and beverage industry and there is no reason there should even be that long of a turnover or for it to be even remotely executed so poorly that you have to tell the customers. Anyways...if that was the case he could have said "oh I am sorry there will be a bit of a wait because we have a lunch turnover that starts at noon, if that will be okay." Not the way he said it so he was basically insinuating that he did not want to deal with us. We were kind of taken off by how rude this guy was, so we just left. Oh not to mention, a couple came in after us and the exact same thing happened with them. He told them breakfast was over...very rudely...NONE of this would have mattered if he handled it the right way and was polite...there was no sign anywhere of the times...and it was Sunday at 11:30am a lot of places would still be serving breakfast...so how would we know. This server ( could have been a manager I do not know), turned away 5 potential customers from 2 separate parties in less then 5 minutes by how impolite and bad mannered he was. We did not even eat there and I felt the need to write a review of the terrible hospitality that this restaurant had. I do not recommend this place to anyone, unless they are trying to be rudely greeted the second they walk through the door because they came at an "inconvenient" time for your server.

The Deck is a fun place for standard, classic fare with a million-dollar view. We've had great salmon here, and it's affordable as a sandwich. Last time it was overdone, though. The crispy fries are tasty and something a little out of the ordinary. Last week, I tried the blacked blue cheese topped burger special. It too was overdone. And too large of a beef patty for me. I would be happier with a quarter pound. Friendly, fast service. The plastic dinnerware can break and is difficult to use. For the price range, they should invest in cheap flatware.

Great view but food is barely 2 stars. Kind of place you would stop in for a beer after the beach but not eat.

It looks like a fun place for someone my age (21) But don't be deceived. My friends had just checked in next door for the night and we met up with they said there was a fun looked bar attached to their hotel. We were wrong. We sat at the bar, the bartender was quick to say hello and take our ordered. My buddy and I ordered a beer, which came in a cheap plastic cup that completely ruined the flavor of a usually good IPA. My girlfriend got a rum drink off their specials menu that was good. I ordered a bacon burger that was suggested by the bartender and she ordered a buffalo wrap. The food service was quick. Her wrap was good, very good buffalo sauce. My burger was okay, obviously just a frozen patty with decent bacon. The thing that got me, like the rest of the reviews was how dumpy it looked. Behind the bar was disgusting and it looked like it hadn't been cleaned in years. This bar looks like it could be a cash cow if the owner put some money into it, but instead it a run down bar. One review called it a "dive bar" this is the furthest thing away from a dive bar in my option.

Flew into Ft Lauderdale early in the morning and was looking for a casual place to satiate my hunger. The Deck is a small restaurant next to a small motel with outdoor seating with a great view of the ocean. There's lots of interesting/cute signs to look at while you're waiting for your food to arrive. Service was quick and friendly--It was exactly what I was looking for. I ordered the Greek Omelette with egg whites. I love spinach and I love feta cheese. Every bite was warm and gooey, just comforting on that cold/rainy morning. The omelette also came with breakfast potatoes which were really flavorful and soft in texture. My friend ordered a breakfast dish centered on Corned Beef with Hash and that was really delicious as well. We were both happy with our choice to dine at the Deck. Great location. Reasonable prices. Good service & delicious food.

Disclaimer: We did not actually eat here. Then again, that's why I'm giving it a one star. It was so bad we didn't stay long enough to test the food. We were walking down Fort Lauderdale Beach Blvd looking for a place to eat with a decent view of the ocean and we stumbled upon the Deck. It seemed like an ok place so up we went. For starters, the place is super confusing. It was hard to tell how you actually get up on the deck but we finally figured it out. Then there was no sign saying Seat Yourself or Wait to be seated so we just took out chances and sat at the first available table. When the waiter came, he was rude, right off the bat. The beer selections wasn't great but we decided on Corona. Then as we waited for the beers we glanced over the menu. The selection was weird and the prices looked steep for a run down Deck that serves as a bar. With the crap service, the shotty selections and the high prices, I quickly got the feeling that the food wasn't going to be any better so we decided to leave. We flagged down our waiter, cancelled our drink order and headed out to find something better.

I call it 'playing tourist' when taking a trip down to the beach to have lunch overlooking the eye candy on a weekday. It had been many years since I was to The Deck and I am still wondering if this is/was the same place. It is on the second floor of the Sea Club hotel with the latter looking like it was undergoing a major renovation in the lobby. Being open to the elements the restaurant has a beaten look but part of that look is just being old. All the tables were taken but it was only a minute before one became free and the server quickly cleaned it. The service, by Earl, was excellent even though he seemed to be the only one working the floor of what I would guess was about 15 tables. He always had a smile when he came to our table and was there for refills and we had a very short wait for the check. Being on the beach we knew it wouldn't be a cheap meal because you are paying to see that eye candy mentioned before and having lunch at the same time so prices weren't a shock and, in fact, less than expected. Allen had the fish & chips ($11.50) and a diet soda ($2) while I had the special black and blue chicken sandwich on a Kaiser role ($12) and coffee ($2.50.) Neither were special. The use of plastic cups, glasses, knives, forks and packets of mayo and mustard brought the whole experience down and I could only think what kind of impression this left of lunch on Fort Lauderdale Beach. The check was $29.41 plus a $6 tip. Next time we do the 'tourist' thing I think I would rather pay a little more for one of the better hotel restaurants overlooking the beach. PS Knowing parking can be a problem, and expensive, on the beach I had called the place before going down and while the person who answered the phone had some suggestions she neglected to tell us the Sea Club had a free parking lot in teh rear of the hotel/restaurant.

Friends we were with wanted to eat somewhere with a view of the ocean that was also casual so we went to this place. Firstly, the seating was terrible as they have those small wicker-type chairs that are not meant for comfortability and both mine and my hubby's legs were falling asleep. Secondly, the drinks were lacking. I ordered a pina colada and it was terrible - was similar to the drink you'd get from a self-serve pina colada machine at some vacation resorts. I left the signature glass as I didn't finish my drink. The soda's were so small it was ridiculous and tasted watered down I ordered the mahi mahi dinner and it came with a salad. The salad was not so great. There was water at the bottom of it and most of the lettuce was brown. I ate some of it but left most of it. The fish was cooked good and the rice was fresh but it was just lacking any zing. Was mediocre at best. Hubby had the NY Strip and said it wasn't seasoned at all and was also over cooked. All in all I would probably not go back.

I enjoyed this place! Nothing fancy, just a laid back, casual place on the beach to get a bite to eat. The staff was ridiculously friendly, entertaining and attentive. I enjoyed my tuna burger and fries, with a good ol vodka and pineapple juice. Keep in mind, I also went on an "off" time. Meaning, not during lunch or dinner rush. Keep in mind, businesses get a little busy during those times, so Ican;t generally speak for how service is during those times, But I loved it! The food was tasty, the fries were yummy and made in peanut oil, which is great because I have a corn allergy, but not great if you have a peanut allergy. I would definitely recommend and I'll be returning!

The Deck is a Restaurant I have seen driving by many times and been wanted to experience for years now. I went there for lunch and then the beach which was conveniently across the street, which also makes parking challenging. The view was fantastic as I had known, but the menu had little to be desired for someone who Goes to the Beach. I call it a tourist trap. After scanning the menu I saw a salad that would be tolerable Tuna Salad, and was soo disappointed when I saw my salad come out ! All Iceberg Lettuce (It said Mixed Greens) I also asked the waitress about the salad and she got defensive saying the owners were German and that's what they think Field Greens are. My Man got the Greek Chicken Salad same kind of lettuce and 15$ I think you pay for the View here? so 30$ Lunch of just Iceberg Lettuce, pretty sad. Oh And they suggest the 18% gratuity which is Tacky and maybe spells out Touristas don't Tip?? Maybe if I ordered a Hamburger or Fries my lunch would've been better here? It's not worth my gamble to try here again, Ive had Better.

I can easily say this place is the worst place I have been to in the past 5 years or more....and I'm just visiting from LA. Nuf said. Quarantine it. We were in a group of 6 and after driving for hours with kids and we had already walked up...Biggest mistake was to just say lets just sit down. The waiter was super nice as he new he had to be to try and make up for anything, and you can sense he knows, but living with it. There is no rating less than 1 star, so, there you are! You have to understand the level of low...This is on the beach, so every place is likely on the level of "great view/mediocre food/priced like its great food. This place was not even getting the lowest grade food order truck delivery! They were in a class of their own. The best advise I can give the owner is to sell it to someone who cares. And convert it to a bar with prepacked snacks...If you still could care less.

It's a dive place/ neighborhood a Last-Hold-Out. The only place that did not sell to the newere delopments along the boulevard. It is part of a hotel that is also a Last-Hold-Out. Don't get me wrong. I love neighborhood mom & pop restaurants. Their are usually great authentic food. Food. But this place. ehhhh. It need to be renovated and the food was underwhelming. Yes this place was cheaper than many others on the strip. Now that I have ate here, the next time I'm in town, I'm willing to play a little bit more for better food. Not to end it this review on a Bad note. The wait staff and bartender are excellent and very attentive and friendly to everyone.

Awesome location. Friendly service. Unbeatable for people watching. The Deck enjoys an optimum location in the northern part of the beach. The music evokes my College years, ranging from Jethro Tull to Electric Light Orchestra. We had a great time, and the only drawback was the overcooked soggy vegetables, which we attributed to being in Ft Lauderdale and of course, retirees like their vegetables overcooked and insipid, else they'll send them back to the kitchen to be overcooked and made insipid. We got there shortly after 7 PM and although all the beach side tables were busy, the Maitre D' offered us space at the bar while we waited for a table. We hadn't even tasted our Margaritas when she came back and offered us a seaside table. Despite a cool evening, the temperature was ideal for al fresco seating. The sight of cruise ships sailing from the Ft Lauderdale terminal made the sight even more significant. Besides our Margaritas, we ordered the Blackened Tilapia and the Grilled Mahi. Although the vegetables were made for Florida retirees, soggy, overcooked and insipid, both pieces of fish were excellent, and so was the rice. We had glasses of both Chardonnay and Cabernet to wash the soggy veggies and outstanding fish. Waitstaff was friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. Now we have to visit the place for breakfast to see whether some of the discrepancies other Yelpers noted in their morning menu can be validated. Overall we thought it was an excellent meal.

Diner food at best. Nice staff. Awesome location. Food is not lavish, but decent for morning breakfast or a burger for lunch. We enjoyed a couple of drinks and people/car watching when we did dine there. Worth going to if you need a break from the beach.

My wife and I, went for a quick ride Sunday. We stop to have breakfast at this place. It was early morning, the place was easy to access from las Olas Blvd. We both order "Sunrise Breakfast" great price and decent amount of food. Our server was the Bartender, (Chris) great guy, funny without been in your face. We have a great time.

Not really a fan. I went for breakfast with my wife and the best thing I can say about the place is that it has an awesome view of the beach. My wife had scrambled eggs with bacon and a bagel. I had my usual, bagel with cream cheese and a side of bacon with a Bloody Mary. Honestly, the Bloody Mary was the worst I have ever had. It was served in a 12 oz plastic cup and I even added Absolute. There was really no flavor to it and for 8 bucks and change you would think it would at least be served in a 16 oz glass. Pretty bad. The food was Cisco at it's best. My wife's eggs looked dry and the bagels tasted like a supermarket brand and not a very a good one. The bacon was....I can't even remember now, it was just plain nondescript bacon. The service was fine, so I had no issues in that department. This place is a hold over from the glory years of Spring Break in the 80's. Souvenir cups for sale made from coconuts, large beers sold in huge neon plastic glasses and chow that tasted like dorm food. Did I mention the view is really nice. Cannot recommend this one Folks, Stay Hungry!

Deck is located only a 5min walk from the mediocre small hotel I am currently staying at. (see my Tropi Rock review) I stopped in for breakfast yesterday, as I hadn't had time to make the epic trek to the Publix grocery store over the bridge inland to get supplies for my efficiency unit. It has a great view of the beach, albeit all restaurants overlook A1A Beachfront Ave which is 2 lanes in each direction, then a short seawall THEN the beach. So you're not hearing the ocean but cars and motorbikes. The decor is ramshackle...it's a deck. It's windy. But it's covered so you will be out of elements from above. Wind sadly is from the sides... I ordered a Western (Denver) omelette ( My go-to if it's a new place for me) The cutlery was wrapped in paper and felt light. Upon inspection the dwarf-sized tools offered were thin tin at best. Think Dollar Tree at it's worst, and then subtract 5 more expectation points. I felt I was given cutlery similar to what one might find in a decent refugee camp. But enough of my First World bitching... The Food: My omelette came in good time served with decent pan-fries and toast. It was understandably lukewarm as by the time it comes from the downstairs kitchen and spends a few seconds in the wind travelling to my table any heat had long blown away. Eggs are notorious for this and having worked in restaurants for years I cannot fault them for this inevitable consequence of beach-side dining. It was topped with a slice of "American Cheese" This means cheese-slice fresh from the plastic wrap. Nuclear Orange, salty and bringing back fond memories of my childhood. I'm pretty sure there is no actual food in cheese-slices; just last years Yellow Pages pulped, colored and salted. Yummy. The coffee was as expected in cafe USA: watery, tasteless but plentiful as the server left me a whole carafe on the table. Very wise as I remember being run ragged by customers wanting endless top-ups. The servers are an interesting mix of middle-aged beach-weary men from what I saw, which is oddly refreshing. Though I never have a problem gazing at buxom twenty-something women servers. I am a red-blooded mostly hetero male after all. ( I realize my profile pic contradicts this. I like being an enigma) For beach front it was priced right. I later that evening had a couple rum and pineapples and took away a bacon cheeseburger and fries. The burger was great except for the fact that the barman offered me a choice of cheese: Swiss, American, (something else) and Cheddar. Delighted I said "Cheddar please" but sadly when I got back to my hovel it was the same sad salty cheese-slice from breakfast. So shame on the cook for not making the distinction. Perhaps they don't actually have any real cheddar. I will never know. Two meals was enough. There are plenty of options on the strip. But if you are staying nearby, it's certainly an option.

Upon arriving in Ft.Lauderdale, exhausted & hungry my mom, brother & I decided to head to the dock to eat, it was conveniently located across the street from out rental. I was not surprised by the touristy feel of the place, the menu seemed a bit pricey but when on the beach you expect to pay more. I had chicken parmesan (which was $17.) & a beer. My brother had a burger & fries, mom had fish & chips. it was all pretty decent.

Nice location with a friendly bartender, but that's about it. This place is in need up some serious TLC. Mixed drinks are quite pricey, too. If you're willing to spend $10 on a cocktail, go to the W hotel just down the street.

first I have to address the "good for kids" in the restaurant description. This is a bar first and foremost. 1/8/12 at 3:30 PM I witnessed a large group of college age guys (mainly) and girls all visibly intoxicated and drinking very heavily, being loud and boisterous, and playing their own music very loudly. If that's what you want your kids around, then go for it. The good: the bartenders, they will remember your name and are most friendly. The bad: The wait staff tend to be curt, the mixed drinks are expensive, and the food is straight off a Sysco truck. Saving grace? The french fries have a great batter.

Nice unpretentious breakfast spot. The upscale hotel I'm staying in wanted $15 for a 2 egg plate; got the same thing here for $6.50. Sat outside on the porch; if you do the same be aware that the awning won't provide any relief from the sun. Overall a great place; I'll be back.

The one star is for the view. The food is very underwhelming and the service is worse. This restaurant needs an overhaul.

The food was ok, but for the prices it was a disappointment. The service wasn't bad. I am not sure what I expected food wise, because the place is not visually inviting, but forty dollars for a meh breakfast is far fetched.

Good lobster burger. Large beers. In a town where everything is a decent walk away, i appreciated that this place was close to my hotel. Friendly folks work here.

The view and the laid back atmosphere is unbeatable on Fort Lauderdale Beach, but wow my drink. Am I becoming a sissy? Those drinks were some of the most awful tasting drinks. I am all for high alcohol content, but not to the point where the taste is completely compromised. It was the second worst Pina Colada. I cannot stress how poorly my drink tasted to me. My girlfriend had a horrible mojito. I tasted her drink and became convinced that my eight year old cousin could make a better tasting drink. You know when something is so bad or pathetic you start feeling embarrassed for the person or thing, Well that is how we felt for the bartender. We said, "everything was great" in response to him asking, "if everything was fine?". One look at our grimacing faces and the obvious was shown that we were not happy. The Deck is seriously saved by that view. It is unbeatable.

Good service but that's about it. Plastic cups, knives and forks. Too many better choices on A1A.

Horrible service. Waited 10 minutes to be seated without even being acknowledged by any of the staff. Seafood is all frozen food-not fresh as indicated by the staff. Beer was warm. They already add on the gratuity at 18% without indicating it in the menu. Waitress doesn't even introduce herself. Waited an hour for the food to even be delivered. The only attentive person we encountered was the bus boy. For such a great view and location, the poor service and low quality food will not have me returning for another go around!

The Deck could do very well for some; me for example. I had a Mahi Salad; I would have liked a fat free dressing. Something for them to think about? It was very good and fresh; it came pretty quickly. The service was very pleasant, and I appreciate that since I was dining alone. Us loners usually like quick service; 'm no exception. Having had a long walk on the beach near the Highland Beach Holiday Inn, a swim, and a 3 hour tour of the Hamikami Zen gardens in Delray today; I felt NO GUILT in trying the Hazelnut Truffle desert - WOW that was TASTY! Roasted to perfection, dipped in chocolate, with hazelnut gellato this was a nice size, but not gargantuan by any means. Frankly it was just what I was looking for. I'm staying in the Sea Club Hotel (same building, different management, from The Deck). Once again, some aspects might be below-grade for some people (like Seinfeld's Elaine), yet the inside of my room is clean, freshly painted and smells good; NOT the Ritz. It's a value restaurant in a prime location; give me a break! I am a tea-totaler, so I don't care if they make their drinks well or poorly, I did see lots of people happily lined up at the bar on this Saturday night, in late January 2012

Xmas day report: full menu available, comfortable outside seating and a direct beach view. Nice! Service was polite, if not totally attentive; but that is forgiven with such a great view! Buffalo wings were above average, with a tasty sauce and blue cheese/celery. Burger was decent, if a tad dry, but full of meaty flavor. Coconut shrimp has hot and crispy, although certainly frozen from a bag. Artichoke dip was also decent; nothing great, but it hit the spot. Drinks were average to good, and the prices were fair for beachfront cocktails. Overall, a decent dive bar with a great view. Worth a quick stop.

This AM, before my trip home, a friend and I decided to try this restaurant out. We have heard good reviews of this place. The location is great. Awesome view of the beach and down the strip (A1A). The actual restaurant is called the Deck for a reason. It is actually on a large deck. The unfortunate thing was this AM it rained in Ft Lauderdale and it was quite windy. So, we felt it all. I ordered a Belgium Waffle and a Croissant sandwich (scrambled egg, ham, and cheese). Both were very good. I would go back again but on a sunny warmer morning. Our waiter was good as well. Polite, attentive, and very friendly. Kudos!!

I like fine dining as much as the next guy, but when all is said and done, I'm not that fussy of an eater. If it tastes good and fills me up, I don't care if it's Spago or Applebee's. That being said, this place easily ranks as one of the top 5 worst dining experiences in recent memory. I stopped in for a quick bite after visiting some friends at the beach and found the food essentially inedible. Everything i ate tasted so stale, old and simply "off", I worried that it might be unhealthy to ingest. I ate what I could choke down, quickly paid my bill and left, and then drove off to a Whole Foods to pick up something that was actually suitable for human consumption.. Mind you, this is PRIME beachfront real estate... all within easy walking distance of many upscale hotels and residences in an area that, for some odd reason, has a major shortage of cafes and restaurants (seriously, why aren't they lining the sidewalks one after another? South Beach this is not, alas). In short, under the right management, it could be a goldmine. As of now, however, it should probably be condemned. I should point out that the kid who waited on me was super sweet and was trying his damnedest to put on a game face (no doubt used to table after table of very disappointed customers). I seriously hope he looks for work at another restaurant more worthy of his efforts... which shouldn't be too hard, as just about any place, anywhere, has got to be better than this. AVOID.

The AMAZING view is what turned this from a 2* to a 3*. Food was average, service was slow but friendly. Couldn't understand why it was slow since the restaurant was not busy. Dennys with an ocean view :0) but unlike a lot of beachfront places, I didn't feel I needed to be trendy, and they didn't rush to get us out, so we were able to enjoy a leisurely lunch. We didn't get the drinks, but they looked like swimming pools from what we saw other people having. Once again, GREAT VIEW!

Five for view and ocean breeze, three for service and food.... It still it's a good place to visit. Had the special, which was a Cuban sandwich and tomato bisque. The sandwich was tasty....but there is a physics problem with a toasted bun (hard to bite into) and thick layers of meat, mustard, and a pickle in the middle. You bite and :::Splooosh:::: the bread is rigid and the soft guts are pushed outside the bun. Challenging to devour. But I fought through, and enjoyed it. The soda was very watery...which is a funny way to save money, but consistent with other reviewers. Let me repeat though, that the view and the breeze would have compensated for almost anything.

I have given this restaurant 2 different tries only because I live blocks from there. The sandwiches are not that bad. HOWEVER both times we went the service was horrible! They take forever to serve you and even more to bring you the check. Well the reason is because they alread include thier 18% gratuity! So no need to give you the service! The view is good but they can do better if they get new waitress!

Added extra tip to my credit card after I had left the restaurant. Called to dispute, but since I didn't have a copy of my receipt, I was told there is nothing they can do. Shouldn't have been surprised since tip is already included due to "all of the foreigners" and the nonchalant and unattentive attitude of our server. The food was mediocre. Beer prices were ok. The view is nice, which is just about the only plus to this place. Service was slow, incorrect food orders and illegally changing credit card charges. Definitely would never return.

The Deck was...interesting. The first visit was me going solo (the beautiful wife was in recovery mode, so I was fetching her a BLT). Like Sean S.'s (S.s'?) review, I made the HUGE mistake of arriving here at some point between 11:30 and noon. Why is this a mistake? Because the kitchen has to shut down from breakfast and do some sort of overhaul to get into lunch mode. Now, I've never worked in a restaurant kitchen before. But I suspect there are pots, pans, and whatnot. I'm not exactly sure what sort of transmutation has to take place, but apparently it does. Anyway, the surly gay bartender is pretty put off by my request. But I pushed this issue, mentioning that "bacon was a universal factor between breakfast and lunch." I'm not sure if he saw my logic, or realized I was being obnoxious. But after having a conference with the chef, he informs me that a BLT is possible. Thanks heavens! After waiting for about 15 minutes, he could see that I was getting a little impatient (hey, the wife needed some nourishment). He came over to tell me that "it's almost ready. He [the chef] had to cut up the lettuce and tomato." Seriously? There wasn't anybody else eating. Whatever. Finally it came out and I took it back over to the wife. She said it sucked. So intelligently, we headed over to the Deck for breakfast. This time we had nice gay waiter who was more than happy to deliver tropical mixed drinks to us in the morning. The funniest thing about breakfast was the bacon. I can't believe we didn't take pictures, but they give you these strips that are insanely small. Dog treats (like Beggin' Strips) are biggest. Probably tastier as well. Oh well. The rest of the food was OK. And I'm the proud owner of a dried coconut painted to look like a pirate that was probably made by a six year old child laborer in China.

This patio bar/restaurant is right on A1A in Ft Lauderdale. Fantastic view of the Atlantic. In the short time of this meal, I watched two cruise ships sail out of a local port. Our server, Chris, was prompt and friendly. I had the Cod Fish and chips. The fries are lightly breaded and delicious without condiments. The fish was plentiful for this light eater. Processed but good nonetheless. I ordered a Coke product but not convinced it was that. This is important to know if you're a Jack and Diet man like me. Prices are fair for what you get. The view is worth it all. Enjoy.

I had a good burger and the best fries at The Deck. The restaurant is a good place if you want a very casual dining experience with pigeons walking around like they're staff. The pigeons are harmless don' t be alarmed! My waitress was very friendly and she even helped me to map out my itinerary for that day. Give them a chance, at least for lunch.

I really wanted to like the place, but the food just wasn't up to par. The server was attentive and so that is where the 2 stars come in. My husband and I both ordered cheeseburgers and the meat was undesirable. It's a great location so it's a shame the food isn't better.

This place is fun. Sure it is a bit of a tourist trap where the locals drink at the bar and people on vacation sit at the table drinking the ten-dollar watered down specialty drinks, but that is the kind of place I like. There is no indoor seating, just tables out on, well, the deck. The front area has a view of the ocean and the back over looks the pool from the attached hotel. The last couple times I have been here the wind has been howling, but that was not a problem, unless my beer was to close to empty, and my cup would try to fly away. Most recently my friend and I both had the create your own burgers, and we liked them. The fries are good, nice and crisp. The other sandwiches that I have had here are decent as well. A huge plus to the place is brunch on the weekends, and maybe on the week. I do like coming here on a sunny morning, watching the ocean and the tourists, and the food is pretty good. Sure, I have had better, but not sitting on a deck by the ocean. I am going four stars only because of the watered down liquor drinks. Stick to beer.

Good place to sit and have a cup of coffee and look at the beach. Bad place if you want to eat. The food here sucks in a big way nothing good on my plate and all I ordered was bacon, sausage and eggs bad bad bad how hard is this to do? However hard you can't do it. Don't eat here.

Great View but that's about it! The food was not good. I recommend heading across the street. There is a restaurant that's in the same price range but has amazing food just across the way. I ended up eating there every morning after eating breakfast at The Deck.

I was in Ft. Lauderdale earlier this month for work and stumbled across this place. I randomly found a parking spot on the street and thought "Might as well get some lunch". Turned out to be a good choice. The bartender (blonde woman, late 30's) was extremely friendly and chatted with me about the area and some of the other bars on the beach. There was a couple on vacation from Rhode Island sitting at the bar as well, so we all chatted and drank in the somewhat cool, sunny afternoon. The view from this place is awesome...it's probably worth it alone. I got the chicken philly and it was pretty good...although I also had a six pack of Miller Lite (in the can b/c of the beach) as well so it was a good afternoon. Overall this place is worth stopping in to hang out.

Ok, so we where driving and it cought our eye's....(cute girls...lol). I was not expecting much from this place, only the GREAT VIEW... the menu is small but it covers the basics...steak, chicken, seafood, pastas, bar food, ect. The drinks where "A horse kick to the face" strong. I got to take a carved coconut home...yay cute. Why five stars for me.....they had on the menu a OMG LOBSTER BURGER.....best one I have had so far!!!

Had a really regrettable breakfast here in January 2011. OK, the location is great and you get a great view of the ocean from the deck. I wasn't expecting anything fancy, just a basic breakfast. I had pancakes, fruit, coffee, and OJ. It was midweek so there weren't many people there, but the service was slow, surly, and rude. I guess they don't need to be nice because they automatically add gratuity to the bill. For one person! It's common for restaurants to do this for parties larger than X number of people, but for one person? You've got to be kidding me. It gets worse. The pancakes didn't hit me well and I puked them back up right after leaving the restaurant. Fortunately there's a metal grating in the gutter across the street so at least I didn't make a mess. F this place.

While the service wasn't friendly, the view and food made up for a multitude of sins. We ate there for breakfast and it was about a 15 minute wait in a tight spot at the top of the stairs. Once seated, the server showed up without a smile and asked minimal questions. We ordered the Eggs Florentine and Deck Two special. Both were surprisingly really good, especially after reading the reviews. The view was just breathtaking and we appreciated not being right on the road next to cars, but up above the congestion of pedestrians an car exhaust. I'd say give it a try! $7 for the special, $8 for omelets not too shabby!!

I'm a sucker for the ocean view, never get tired of it. So the ocean view is the only reason I'm giving this place 2 stars. Food is propably on par with a sports bar, but i understand, the quality of food is usually is in inverse relation with the quality of location, and location is great. What I don't understand, is why our server was walking around like she was taking a stroll on the beach? Maybe their assumption is that people on the beach are not in any rush. We were waiting about 5 minutes to be greeted by the waitress although we saw her walk by the table a few times looking like she was in a fog. Maybe she was?.. Everything took forever: menus..... drinks (watery, thin frozen drinks...)..... check... meanwhile the waitress never picked up the speed. I usually am super tolerant, having spent years waitressing, but I just really have never seen anyone move sooooo slooow. maybe she was just having a bad day, who knows, but still that was our experience.

Fort Lauderdale has surprisingly few options for food near Central Beach, where I was staying over the weekend. The Deck is one of them, so we ended up eating there twice. The restaurant/bar is, as you might have guessed(!), on a deck across from the beach. It's pub food... nothing too fancy but it does the job. We tried a bunch of things including the chicken fingers (delicious), onion rings, and the grilled mahi-mahi sandwich, which was pretty good (and came with great fries). They also have a number of drink specials including 5 beers for $10 (you can't really beat that). Friendly service too... what else do you really need? Good place for an easy and filling meal or a few drinks before and after going to the beach.

This place exemplifies what I miss about Florida. Outdoor dining, the beach breeze, good company, and down-to-earth service. I have worked mainly in fine dining, and for me, friendly service is good service, I'd much rather be called "bro" or "man" than "Sir" any day. I gave the place three stars instead of four, not for service reasons, mainly its for value. I understand that the real estate is not cheap, so I expect to pay a bit more than I'm used to in Chicago. For value, the bloody mary's are much too heavy on horseradish. I eat horseradish out of the jar, but I expect my bloody to be a perfect balance of tomato, worcestershire, tabasco, vodka, and perhaps horseradish, although to me, horseradish isn't necessary. The breakfast omelette I had was cooked perfectly, fluffy and chocked full of fillings. It was a perfect portion, I ate it all and felt satiated, but not to the point of gastro-explosion. My dining partner had the eggs Florentine, we each had coffee (which was above-average for what I expected in a world where diners and dives rarely consider coffee and quality in the same thought unless the word "bad" precedes the latter.) They automatically include 18% gratuity, which is great for me, I believe that's the way all restaurants should work. I added additional gratuity because I'm a firm 20% tipper for good service. The bill came out to $46 for everything including grat, their food and liquor costs should thank me, as the bill total and the sub-par bloody's kept this restaurant from being a 4 star place, not the service.

With 45 minutes before check out to spare, my guesthouse concierge recommends "The Deck" for a quick breakfast. Named appropriately the Deck is a on the Deck of the Sea Club resort and this is about all it has going for it. Upon arrival, one waiters goes into apoplectic shock at my arrival to the next "how are we going to serve him?" Now seeing as I was going to be their 8th table and there are two tow of them, that I arrived alone without entourage, paparazzi or I don't know a belly over my thighs indicating I might eat a disproportionate amount, I don't quite understand the production. If I was a catty reviewer I might say they looked like a bunch of gay tweakers who could hardly keep it together but you know I'm supersweet. That said the calamity that I witnessed was because they were switching over to the lunch menu and not sure if they could serve breakfast anymore. Since they hadn't greeted me, brought me a menu or anything, I am not sure how they even knew I wanted breakfast but they did. Something about me just says "egg white omelet" doesn't it? So when I requested a menu, tweaker, I mean waiter number 2 snided back "Uh we are looking into see if the kitchen can still do breakfast" and walked away. You know there are a thousand things a waiter could have said like "let me get you something to drink" you know as a start but no not on the Deck, here they are happy to pass over their tina induced paranoia, I mean work stress, over to the customer. Wonder of wonders at 1135 the chef (chef, teehee) can take a break from his meth production, I mean, lunch preparation to shake out a few eggs. After ordering I am informed they don't have spinach which you know is one of two ingredients the other being feta in the "Greek omelet" so I said Add tomatoes and mushroom. I didn't say minus the feta but somehow this got translated to the drug den, I mean kitchen. So when my eggs came out they were mmmm, lacking in any taste what so ever. I did get an orange juice and this was refilled for me with out asking which was nice except that the orange juice was so "not fresh" that getting that first 3/4 of a plastic cup was a chore. Yelp tourists don't park your deck chair here.

We ate here with a coupon from restaurant.com and it was well worth it. The food was good, service nice, with a fantastic view of the ocean. The prices weren't bad, considering the place is almost on the beach. I am not sure I would review it as highly if I paid full price but you can't beat $25 off of the $40 bill.

Nice location, relaxed ambiance, good view of the beach but most places along this strip would give you the same. I went there for breakfast on my own (gasp!) and was denied a table on the deck and put at the bar, where my arms stuck to the countertop and I got a view of a giant inflatable Bitburger beer bottle. They're a little abrupt here, barking, "No table for single people!" and "Absolutely no substitutions!" when I requested a table and whether I could have pancakes instead of toast. Still, decent breakfast at okay prices, so not one star. Mostly they could treat their single travelers better. Oh yeah, and 18% automatic gratuity is a bit much for the service I received.

We arrived at our hotel a little later than we expected and didn't want to walk far for dinner so we ended up here - even after reading the first review. It was 9:10PM and the bar was slow. When I asked about eating, the waitress said the kitchen had just closed but to wait while she ran down to see if anyone was still there. The cook said he'd stay and fix anything we wanted as long as we ordered fast. I had a mahi sandwich plate ($9) and my wife had chicken tenders ($7). Both were really good and the portions were large for a bar that serves food. I was really impressed that a short order cook would stay after hours to cook for two people without his boss making him do it. It was good enough that we went back in the morning for breakfast and I rarely eat the same place twice when I travel. The $4 breakfast (that's right - $4) was two eggs, hash browns, and toast. We had an order of bacon for $2 more and it was very good - VERY GOOD considering the price at a place overlooking the ocean. The view was great, the food was great, and the service was great. It might be a 3+ but considering the poor review it had already recieved I went up instead of down. We enjoyed it!
